I made this image in the Ashridge forest on a morning out with Issa Farhoud and Nigel Morton. The colours, texture and lines simply fascinated me (and Issa, for that matter) as we both made images of different parts of the trunk at the same time, while almost standing on top of each other.

This image is actually ‘as seen’ on the ground glass – rotated by 180 degrees – and presenting it this way was an intentional decision made prior to exposure. The darker areas helped to give the image a ‘bed’ to build from.

Interesting shot – lots to look at in there regarding how the wood grows, but also a rather good abstract, on first impression.

A rainbow of green colours and textures. An image I’ll b back to look at many times I think.

Just wonderful Tim, as Mike said at first look especially in the thumb it looks like a good abstract, the detail in the full however is nothing but superb, like this one a lot,

Very nice indeed Tim, and an interesting decision to present upside down … works well. Lovely lines and colours, … such verdant vibrancy.

Lovely abstraction. I like a bit of trunk occasionally.

Oh I just think this is fantastic… this defines ‘intimate landscape’ for me.

Posted at last, fab colours and textures. Do like the roatation as it guides the eye. Great detail, considering the curved nature of the shot.
Would have loved to have taken this, but did not have long enough lens, may be next time.

I rather like this Tim, have tried similar on numerous occasions but they’ve never turned out as good as this. My 240 lens has become indispensable lately for exactly this sort of image…

Good eye Tim; seeing an image within an image.

That’s great Tim, just love those colours and the way you’ve presented this. I was playing about with something similar myself a few weeks back but still waiting on processing, hopefully up to this standard.

Viewed in the thumbnail I thought ‘an interesting abstract’. I like it even more viewed bigger. I think it was a good spot and excellent decision to show it with the darkness at the bottom.
