Favourite photos from 2010

2010 has been a very interesting year for me in many respects – both personally and photographically – and I feel that I’ve grown as a photographer over the last twelve months. I’ve met some great people along the way too, and they’ve certainly inspired me to think outside of the box more often than not.

At the start of the year, I made a promise to myself that I’d spend more time outside and make fewer photographs. Despite making fewer photographs, I’ve struggled to keep my website and Flickr stream up to date with my latest work, as I’ve spent the last few months working on a fairly significant overhaul to my website.

Anyway, I’ve put together a small collection of my favourite photos from the last twelve months. There are others that I thoroughly enjoy looking back on, but they didn’t quite make it into this list. Click below to see which photos made it.

Thanks for all of your support over the past twelve months and I wish you all the best for 2011!

Black Mount Range, Rannoch Moor, Scotland

Clearing Storm, The Seven Sisters, East Sussex

Linne Bhuidhe & Anoach Eagach, Glen Coe, Scotland

The Hills of Bunster Hill, Ilam, Staffordshire

Watered Down Hills, Dovedale, Staffordshire

A Colourful Life, Roach Wood, Staffordshire

Crepuscular Rays, St Martha's Hill, Surrey

Line of rocks, The Roaches, Staffordshire

Thanks Jason, it’s difficult to say which one is my favourite at the moment… it’s probably the clearing storm over the Seven Sisters. It was an epic morning!

Having said that, I also have soft spots for the shot of Bunster Hill, the reflections in the river and also Glen Coe/Scotland in general.

Thanks Tim, I think I’m definitely moving closer to the Seven Sisters as my favourite of the year. I really appreciated the post processing tips you gave me on the workshop – really helpful in better fulfilling my vision!

Great set of work Tim. For me your shot of Glen Coe, is wonderful. The light catching the Anoach Eagach is spot on, it takes me back to my climbing days when I traversed the ridge in winter – finishing off with a very well deserved pint or three in the Clachaig.
    Happy New Year.

Thanks Paul, I would love to traverse Anoach Eagach one of these days, but probably not in the winter. I didn’t do any drinking in the Clachaig, as I was staying just over the road from the pub in Ballachulish. It meant I could stagger home when kick-out time came. :)

      Hey Derek,

Let me know if you’re over in the UK at any point. It’d be great to catch up for a beer – it’s been too long!

I love the hills of Bunster Hill! This is a classic photograph! Wow!

I think I need to come and check out Staffordshire!

Glad that I found your site through Jims!

Thanks Chris, Staffordshire is fantastic – particularly north Staffordshire. Many parts of it are hideously under-photographed in my opinion :)
